ATMOSFAR supports both solo play and 2–4 player online co-op, with sessions launched through Steam's standard online co-op flow — saves persist for the entire Early Access period, so the same group can continue a single campaign over many sessions.

How a session starts

Sessions are launched through Steam's standard online co-op flow from the store page. Once everyone is in, the same save persists for the entire Early Access period, so the same group can continue a single campaign over many sessions without losing progress.

The four complementary roles

Co-op encourages players to divide into four complementary roles, each tied to one of the Wasp classes:

  • Pilot — flies the Utility Wasp and is responsible for navigation and for deploying foldable camps away from the Cruiser.
  • Hauler — takes the Cargo Wasp and airlifts heavy scrap and resources back to the Cloud Cruiser.
  • Fighter — runs the Fighter Wasp for defense against fauna and PACE drones.
  • Scout — leads formations in the Scout Wasp, charts safe paths through jet streams and storms, and uses the Geiger counter and scanner to locate points of interest.

How roles interact on the Cruiser and in the air

Players can ride along on each other's Wasps as passengers sitting on the sides while one pilot flies, and the small Wasps are designed for exactly this kind of formation flying. On the Cloud Cruiser, building is multiplayer-aware — multiple crew members can place modules simultaneously on the same hull, so the camp-manager role also coordinates which sections are upgraded first to support more demanding expeditions.

Two- or three-player play

With only two or three players, the same roles condense: a common pair is a Pilot/Hauler in the Utility Wasp running a foldable camp and a Fighter in the Fighter Wasp, leaving the Cloud Cruiser to drift under autopilot while the squad is away.
